The State's Democratic party has narrowed the field of those vying to run for Lieutenant Governor to 17.
More than 100 people interviewed for the post during a series of weekend hearings in Chicago and Springfield.
State Senator Susan Garret of Lake Forest, and State Representative Art Turner of Chicago. who finished second in the February Lieutenant Governor primary were among the finalists.
Sheila Simon, daughter of former U.S. Senator Paul Simon, also made the cut.
The Dems are expect to choose a running mate for Pat Quinn by Saturday.
The governor is believed to have a large say in who is picked.
The spot on the ballot has been vacant since nominee Scott Lee Cohen dropped out of the race after domestic abuse allegations involving a prostitute girlfriend surfaced.
